Welcome to GMCHS

Greg Mathis Charter High School is a SC Public School open to all students. GMCHS is a South Carolina Public High School of choice.

It is our intent to provide students of the Charleston County community with an opportunity to achieve success in a safe, structured and challenging environment. Accordingly, we have redesigned the curriculum and our approach to delivering a quality education to all who enter this community.

We have developed a zero tolerance policy for any and all forces that may attempt to interrupt or impede our students in their quest for academic and interpersonal growth and development.

In conjunction with our transformation as it relates to the curriculum and the GMCHS teaching methodology of "Whole Child Learning," we will clarify the responsibilities and obligations of students and parents.

We view the relationship of our staff with the parents and our students as a tripartite covenant, in which all parties have clearly identified responsibilities and expectations. We believe that GMCHS offers this community the best option for community based learning with our small classes, cutting  edge curriculum, and student-centered community service focus.
